Final settlement calculator
Based on Saudi Labor Law (Royal Decree M/51), Articles 84, 111, 76, 77 & 88
Quick answer
Your final settlement in Saudi Arabia is your end-of-service award (Articles 84 and 85), plus the wage for every unused annual-leave day (Article 111), plus pay in lieu of any notice you were not given (Article 76), plus salary still owed, less work-related debts the employer may set off. Every component runs on your actual wage, basic pay plus allowances, divided by 30. Article 88 requires payment within one week of the employment ending, or two weeks if you ended the contract. If the employer ended it without a legitimate reason, Article 77 compensation comes on top; this calculator can add it as an option.

What a Saudi final settlement includes
A final settlement is everything the Labor Law makes payable when the employment relationship ends, added up. The end-of-service award is usually the largest line, but it is rarely the whole figure: unused leave and unserved notice often add months of pay.
Unlike the UAE, Qatar or Oman, Saudi Arabia does not switch wage bases between components. Article 2 defines the wage as the actual wage, basic pay plus allowances, and every article involved uses that word. One base, divided by 30, prices the whole settlement. Commission is part of it unless your contract excludes it from the end-of-service base under Article 86.
| Component | Article | Wage base |
|---|---|---|
| End-of-service award | Arts. 84 & 85 | Last actual wage |
| Unused annual leave | Art. 111 | Actual wage ÷ 30 per day |
| Pay in lieu of notice | Art. 76 | Actual wage for the notice period |
| Outstanding salary | Art. 88 | Actual wage ÷ 30 per day |
| Compensation, unlawful termination (optional) | Art. 77 | Actual wage, minimum two months |
| Less work-related debts | Art. 88 | Set off by the employer |
Saudi Labor Law (Royal Decree M/51), consolidated Arabic text as amended to 1446 AH. Overtime owed at the end is also part of the settlement but needs your hours, so it has its own calculator.

Article 77: compensation for termination without a legitimate reason
If a contract is ended without a legitimate reason, Article 77 gives the other party compensation, unless the contract itself fixes an amount. For a worker on an indefinite contract it is 15 days' wage for each year of service. On a fixed-term contract it is the wage for the rest of the term. In both cases it may not be less than two months' wage.
Whether a termination was unlawful is not something a calculator can decide; a labour court or an agreed settlement does. That is why the Article 77 line is off by default and appears only when you select employer termination. It is paid in addition to the end-of-service award, which Article 84 owes either way. The rule also runs the other way: a worker who walks out of a fixed-term contract without a legitimate reason can owe the employer the same, which you would enter as a deduction.
| Contract | Article 77 compensation | Floor |
|---|---|---|
| Indefinite | 15 days' wage × years of service (Art. 77(1)) | 2 months' wage |
| Fixed-term | Wage for the remaining term (Art. 77(2)) | 2 months' wage |
Article 77(3) sets the two-month minimum. The calculator counts part-years of service pro rata, an assumption it states in the result.
When it must be paid, and what to check before you sign
Article 88 gives the employer one week from the end of the employment relationship to pay your wages and settle your dues, and two weeks where you ended the contract. The employer may deduct any debt owed to it because of the work, such as an unrecovered advance.
Article 8 voids any waiver or settlement of your statutory rights signed while the contract is still running, unless it is more favourable to you. A clearance signed after the end can be treated as accepting the figure, so check each line first. If the money does not arrive, Article 234 gives you twelve months from the end of the relationship to bring a claim before the labour courts.
How to calculate your Saudi final settlement
- 1
Enter your actual wage
Basic salary and fixed allowances. Every component uses both.
- 2
Add your dates and how employment ended
Resignation reduces the end-of-service award under Article 85; termination and contract expiry pay it in full.
- 3
Add leave taken, unserved notice and unpaid days
The calculator turns each into money at the actual wage ÷ 30.
- 4
Tick Article 77 only if it applies
Only for a termination without a legitimate reason; for a fixed-term contract, enter the days left on it.
- 5
Subtract debts the employer may set off
Advances or loans still owed, under Article 88.
Worked examples
Terminated after 6 years, SAR 6,000 basic + 2,000 allowances
- End of service: 2.5 + 1 months × 8,000 = SAR 28,000
- Unused leave: 135 earned − 100 taken = 35 days × 266.67 = SAR 9,333.33
- 60 days' notice not given: SAR 16,000; 10 unpaid days: SAR 2,666.67
- Less a SAR 1,500 advance: 56,000 − 1,500
Resigned after 4 years, SAR 9,000 basic + 3,000 allowances
- Full award: 2 months × 12,000 = 24,000; Article 85 pays one-third = SAR 8,000
- Unused leave: 84 earned − 60 taken = 24 days × 400 = SAR 9,600
- Notice worked in full, so no pay in lieu
Terminated without a legitimate reason after 3 years, SAR 10,000 wage
- End of service: 1.5 months × 10,000 = SAR 15,000
- Unused leave: 63 − 50 = 13 days × 333.33 = SAR 4,333.33
- Article 77, indefinite: 15 days × 3 years = 45 days = SAR 15,000, below the two-month floor, so SAR 20,000
- 15,000 + 4,333.33 + 20,000
Frequently asked questions
What is included in a final settlement in Saudi Arabia?
The end-of-service award (Articles 84 and 85), the wage for unused annual leave (Article 111), pay in lieu of notice that was not given (Article 76), any salary still owed, and overtime owed, less work-related debts the employer may deduct (Article 88). If the employer ended the contract without a legitimate reason, Article 77 compensation is added.
Is the final settlement calculated on basic or actual wage?
On the actual wage, basic pay plus allowances, for every component. Article 2 says that wherever the Labor Law says wage it means the actual wage, and the end-of-service, leave and notice articles all use that word. Commission counts unless your contract excludes it from the end-of-service base (Article 86).
How long does the employer have to pay my settlement?
One week from the end of the employment relationship under Article 88, or two weeks if you were the one who ended the contract. After that you can complain through the Ministry's amicable-settlement channel and, if needed, the labour court, within twelve months (Article 234).
Is Article 77 compensation paid on top of end of service?
Yes. Article 77 compensates a termination without a legitimate reason; the end-of-service award under Article 84 is owed regardless. On an indefinite contract it is 15 days' wage per year of service, on a fixed-term contract the wage for the remaining term, and never less than two months' wage.
Do I get notice pay if I resign?
Not usually. Pay in lieu of notice is owed to the party who did not receive the notice (Article 76). If you resign and leave without working your 30 days, the employer can claim that amount from you instead; enter it as a deduction.
How do I work out my dues after resigning?
Choose resignation here and enter your dates, actual wage and leave balance. Only the end-of-service award is reduced, by the Article 85 tiers: nothing under two years, a third from two to five, two-thirds over five and under ten, and the full award from ten years. Unused leave (Article 111) and unpaid salary are paid in full. No notice pay is owed to you, and it can be deducted if you did not work your notice. If you left in one of the Article 81 situations, the law keeps all your statutory rights intact.
Is this the Ministry of Justice labour calculator?
No. Mukafi is an independent calculator. It applies the same Labor Law articles and adds a line-by-line breakdown, but the official tools and the labour courts decide disputes.
Can I still claim after signing a clearance?
A waiver of your Labor Law rights signed while the contract is running is void unless it is more favourable to you (Article 8). A clearance signed after the end can be treated as accepting the figure, so check it against your own calculation before signing.
